We don’t speak language

We don’t speak English, Spanish, or Farsi,
We speak the language of our body
Its words in twitches, paragraphs in wrinkles,
Novels in a look
We hear with our eyes and know lies through narrowed lashes
Somehow we get the idea, threaded through tapestries of understanding and misunderstanding
We know the truth of what goes on here
But you and I, us and them, we wear it
It wears us
